Ushers

For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. — Psalm 84:10 (ESV)

The role of the usher has developed from the historical position of doorkeeper. Today, the focus of the role is on making worshippers feel welcome and helping them to find a seat. This is accomplished by ensuring that seats are being occupied as efficiently as possible, and making additional seating available, either in the sanctuary or the overflow area. Ushers also lend Bibles and Books of Praise to those who need them, assist the handicapped when necessary, and maintain order by dealing with disruptions.

Ushering is a rewarding service opportunity which is well-suited to outgoing people who enjoy helping others and have good people skills. Ushers serve in teams of three on a three-week rotation. For more information, or to express your interest in joining our team, please contact the head usher.
